About Standard Setting Recruitment

The Florida Department of Education (the Department) will be conducting standard-setting activities to review and update the following examinations in 2014:

  • Computer Science K–12
  • Elementary Education K–6
  • English 6–12
  • FELE
  • General Knowledge Test
  • Middle Grades English 5–9
  • Technology Education 6–12

Standard-setting activities include taking the revised form and then reviewing every item and providing an expert judgment on the performance of acceptably qualified Florida educators. The Bureau of Postsecondary Assessment then will take the committee recommendation to the State Board of Education for an approval.

The Department and Evaluation Systems are seeking educators who are:

  • exemplary in their subject areas and
  • representative of all areas and populations of the state.

You are qualified if you are:

  • a public school teacher certified and currently working in a subject area listed above or
  • a school district-level supervisor in a subject area listed above or
  • a college faculty member who is training educators at the undergraduate or graduate level and who has expertise in a subject area listed above.

Benefits of participation include:

  • opportunities for professional growth and inservice credits (individuals should refer to their district's master inservice plan to determine if their participation qualifies for inservice credits) and
  • substitute reimbursement or a stipend of $250 per 8-hour meeting day for your time and effort. Individuals should refer to their district or institution policy to determine if they are eligible to receive the stipend.

Participants will receive:

  • reimbursement for their travel and meal expenses and
  • hotel accommodations, if necessary.
